Can I lose weight from Pilates workouts?
Weight training is essential in weight loss because it builds muscle, which increases metabolism. Since the Reformer works muscles using resistance techniques, it can be equated to weight training. Muscles become taut and toned, not bulky and tight. Training on the Reformer also realigns posture and helps one to stand taller thus appearing slimmer.

How is Pilates different from Yoga?
Although they share some similarities, Pilates requires one to set a posture and then challenge the torso through movements of the limbs. In addition, Pilates incorporates the use of resistance, helping progress through increased strength.

Can Pilates Reformer help tone my legs and glutes?
Yes! It helps with toning and strengthening the entire body. Pilates exercise is designed to deliver a full-body workout, with emphasis on motor skills, coordination, strength, and flexibility.

I play competitive sports. How can the Reformer help me?
The Reformer can improve performance through enhanced body awareness, as well as improved flexibility, joint range-of-motion, and strength. Advanced levels of the Pilates Reformer workout provide clients with a customized program tailored to meet individual needs.

Is the Pilates Reformer just for women?
Absolutely not! At its birth, Pilates attracted mainly professional dancers and movie stars. Today, a wide audience recognizes its unparalleled benefits. Major sports teams, such as the Buffalo Bills, have incorporated Pilates Reformer training into a regular part of their conditioning program. Real men do Pilates, and reap the rewards!

Is Pilates safe for pregnant women?
Although the non-impact nature of the Pilates Reformer workouts is absolutely safe for pregnant women, it is strongly recommended that you consult your physician before embarking on any exercise program during maternity months.

Is the Reformer too strenuous for mature adults?
Pilates is suitable for all age groups. As we age, increased strength and flexibility become increasingly important. Pilates helps lessen the effects of aging, such as the decrease in bone density and strength.

When will I notice results?
Results will vary from client to client. The average active person will see results in four to eight sessions.

What is the average size of a Pilates Reformer class?
In order to provide high-quality instruction, classes are semi-private, with size limited to just six students. Participation in the classes is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, with an advanced commitment to four or eight sessions. Private one-on-one personal training and partner training are also available for an additional fee.

Why is there an additional cost for Reformer classes?
Due to the private and semi-private setting of classes (sessions can be equated to personal training), the nature of the equipment, and the amount of training required by our instructors, the Center charges a fee for this supplemental fitness experience. The Center's prices are competitive as compared to other facilities in the area. Members who take advantage of our Reformer classes are reaping huge benefits, physically, mentally, and monetarily.
