What is West Coast Swing?
West Coast Swing is a style of dance with roots in Lindy Hop. It is characterized
by a distinctive elastic look and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance
floor. The dance allows for improvised steps while dancing with a partner or
solo. West Coast Swing is on a short list of dances that encourages improvisation,
allowing for creative versatility. Primarily danced to blues and modern music with
a swing beat, the dance's unique nuances are challenging and addictive.

"I started teaching dance in the 1970s as a high school teacher. East Coast Swing, or Jitterbug, was the easiest dance for my students to learn. I also taught line dances, the Cha Cha, and the Rumba to adults . In 2003, I was introduced to West Coast Swing, Night Club Two-Step, Two-Step, Hustle, Salsa, and East Coast Swing (again). My dance fever continued!
I have trained, and continue lessons, with many skilled instructors. I'm excited to share what I've learned from these Greats, and my love of dance, with Center members. I'm sure many will catch my dance fever!"
