PF&W cycle enthusiasts RACED THE MOUNTAINS this winter! The goal of the six-week training program, which ran in January and February, was to increase Anaerobic Threshold. Why were we striving to increase anaerobic threshold? To work at a higher level of energy for a longer period of time with the idea that more fitness equals more fun.
Our skilled and motivating team of instructors lead their classes on journeys up, over, and through eight of the highest peaks in the U.S., with a detour to Mount Rushmore on Presidents' Day! Cyclists endured steady state climbs and endurance rides, as well as peaks and valleys. Training efforts increased each week. We began with two 10-minute efforts in every class and ended the training with two 20-minute efforts in the final testing rides.
The culminating event of the six-week program were two 2-hour rides during the weekend of February 26. During the two-hour rides members used the tools and endurance gained in training and put them to the final test. The Cycle studio was filled with energy and strength! Goals were met and exceeded as the 80 participants raced for the finish line.
JOB WELL DONE, PF&W CYCLE TEAM!
