Water Safety Instructor, Ages: 16 years & up
Whether you want to splash around with kids and teach them to swim, help children or adults refine their strokes, or teach diving safety techniques, you can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Qualified instructors can also help prepare swim coaches to prevent and respond to emergency situations. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 500 yards & perform all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, and butterfly).
Lifeguard Training, Ages: 15 years & up
Are you 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the best place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. Prerequisite: Swim 300 yards, remove 10 pound weight from 7ft. of water, and swim 10 yards with the weight.
CPR/AED
American Red Cross first aid, CPR, and AED programs are designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life. Learn how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults and children. Become familiar with the use and safe operation of an Automated External Defibrilator for victims of cardiac arrest.
